For 20 years, I have worked in the rooms where decisions about community health get made: statehouses, city council chambers, school board meetings, hospital partnerships, and neighborhood town halls. Along the way, I learned one lesson that shapes everything I do: a strong strategy only matters when it becomes a lasting win for the people it is meant to serve.
My path began in policy. With a degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration, I started my career drafting legislation and leading government relations strategy across six states. I quickly saw that the policies with real staying power were built alongside communities.
That insight led me to public health. I led a menu labeling campaign to address obesity in Houston, recruited more than 2,000 volunteers to an online advocacy network, and organized town halls in underserved neighborhoods. I then led tobacco prevention policy through a partnership with the state health department, helping pass multiple local ordinances to reduce youth tobacco use.
For six years, I led statewide advocacy for every YMCA in Texas. I secured hundreds of thousands of dollars for equity priorities, published a statewide report on healthy out-of-school time, and brokered partnerships with school districts, pediatric hospitals, coalitions, and businesses. Later, I coached educators through organizing cycles that helped deliver four statewide policy wins in just 18 months.
Today, I serve as Executive Director of a healthcare technology nonprofit addressing the social determinants of health. We use data, AI, and technology to connect households with the resources they need to thrive.
Every chapter has taught me the same thing: sustainable change happens when data, partnerships, and community voice move together. That is the work I love, and I am here to help you do it.
